Dr. Golub-Evans say the teeth whitening strips come with side effects such as teeth sensitivity. He says if that’s a problem for you, a trip to the dentist may be the way to go. Surprisingly, even though the power on the bleaching product is stronger at a dental office, you are going to get a lot less sensitivity. That is because the dentist or higienist is able to block out the sensitive parts of your teeth which you can’t do with over the counter products at home.

Another option is bonding. A dentist can use this to fix discolorations. And there are also veneers and shells for your teeth, but you have to be a little extra careful with these. Don’t chew ice, don’t chew bones, don’t open candy wrappers, don’t open beer bottles.. don’t do things like that.

And maintenance is key, whether your teeth are natural or not.

There are lots of items that can stain and those are dark liquids like red wine, like black coffee & black tea. But don’t think that drinking water is your only option. If you are drinking coffee drink through a straw/ We’ve also found that if you put milk in coffee or milk in tea, it’s much better for your teeth. You are not going to get the same type of darkening.

Be realistic. Don’t be fooled by magazines. Look at the whites of the eyes of celebrities. If the whites in their eyes are darker than your teeth, then their teeth have been covered, bonded with porcelain veneers. One cannot bleach teeth any whiter than the whites of one’s eyes!
